BRAN - land of Dracula - it is one of the most famous landmarks of Romania.

Commonly known as "Dracula's Castle", it is marked as the home of the Bram Stoker's character  - Dracula. Dracula represents the result of the intersection of some real historical events related to Vald Å¢epes – Dracul voivode, as mentioned is some chroniclers of those times, aiming to put the great voivode in a bad light.

The castle is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie (Queen consort of Romania from 1914 to 1927). Tourists can see the interior individually or by a guided tour. Here you can also find a small open air museum park exhibiting traditional Romanian peasant structures (cottages, barns, etc.) from across the country.

How to get there:
By car: 30 min drive, on DN73 (to Pitesti)
By bus: 50 min trip, every half an hour from Bus Station 2 (Autogara 2), starting from 07:00 –
23:30 (Return: last bus at 21:00 from Bran). Adress for Autogara 2: Str. Avram Iancu nr.114 (can be reached with bus no 12 from Livada Postei)
By train: not possible

Sheep Scattering Festival
When: begining of the fall
Sheep scattering is a symbolic festivity marking the end of the pastoral season. During the festival, people sing, dance traditional dances like Brasoveanca and prepare and eat specific foods, especially sheep pastrami and polenta balls (bulz), sprinkled with grape juice made by the locals.
